Homecoming 2009 Whisky Month Scotland's Whisky industry is set to take centre stage in May when a month long celebration gets underway. This forms part of Homecoming 2009 , the campaign designed to encourage Scots to come back to Scotland to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, our National Poet. Join in with the celebrations at the Robert Graham stores in Glasgow and Edinburgh and also the Gordon Inn Yarrow on May 15th
Throughout the day we will be hosting instore tastings of some of Scotland’s finest single malt whiskies as well as our exclusive Robert Graham Homecoming Single Islay Malt Whisky specially selected to mark the historic occasion that is the “Year of the Homecoming”. Customers are welcome to visit our outlets to try these whiskies free of charge during the hours of 1030-1730hrs. With the first 200 bottles of Robert Graham’s Homecoming whisky sold we will include a free limited edition print showcasing the artwork depicted on the bottle label which will be signed by the artist as well as offer 2 nights accommodation for the price of 1 at the Gordon Inn Yarrow (to be redeemed before the end of May 2009 and subject to availability). The Gordon Inn Yarrow was regularly visited by James Hogg and Sir Walter Scott, two of Scotland’s literary greats and is in a very picturesque setting amongst some of Scotland’s most breathtaking scenery. It would be a very memorable stay and we are delighted to be able to offer the extra night’s stay so that it can be fully appreciated. More details of the hotel are available on their website http://www.thegordonarmsyarrow.com/ Other events that may be of interest include: Sprit of Speyide Whisky Festival and Awards A panel of judges (including whisky writers, specialist retailers and industry representatives), gathered together recently to blind taste 43 entries to this year's competition. The whiskies, all distilled in Speyside were divided into 3 catagories (12 years and under, 13-20 years old, and 20 years and older). They now go forward to be judged by visitors to the festival which takes place from May 1st-10th. Watch out here for the results! For more information on the awards and the festival, visit www.spiritofspeyside.com Distilleries from Highland Park in Orkney to Bladnoch in Galloway are set to open their doors to offer tours to visitors. The new Spirit of the West Festival taking place at Inveraray Castle, Argyll on May 16 and 17, which will highlight Scotland's west coast distilleries. The Feis Ile Islay Malt and Music Festival from May 23 to 31 will see a range of events held at distilleries on the island. Other events include tours at The Famous Grouse Experience in Crieff, Dewar's World of Whisky in Aberfeldy, and Auchentoshan's revamped visitor centre near Glasgow.
