The newly re-opened Glenglassaugh distillery is to give scotch whisky lovers the opportunity to buy 50 litre "octave" casks. This has apparently come about as a result of requests from consumers.
Each octave costs £500 and will be made from individual staves, selected from larger casks. The distillery advises that the quality of the spirit will be regularly monitored as it matures in the distillery's 1875 traditional dunnage warehouse. Managing Director Stuart Nickerson expects the single malt scotch whisky will be ready for bottling in around 5-7 years of the cask being filled.
