Allt a Bhainne means "the milk burn"
The distillery was founded in 1975 by Chivas Brothers (a subsidiary to Seagrams).
Seagrams built two distilleries in Speyside in the 70s, Allt a Bhainne and Braeval/Braes of Glenlivet which was made available to club members in last months offer
Situated near Dufftown, the River Fiddich lies to its West
The whisky is primarily used for the Chivas blends.
Similarly to Braes of Glenlivet only a small minority of casks work their way into hands of independent bottlers such as Robert Graham thus allowing whisky connoisseurs the opportunity to try a very rare dram indeed
The distillery was mothballed in 2002 along with three other distilleries owned by the Pernod Ricard Group who bought Chivas in 2001
Production restarted in 2005 but there are no immediate plans to release this as a proprietary single malt
